Doctor Strange Ending Explained – What’s Next For Doctor Strange, Wanda Maximoff, America Chavez?

This story contains spoilers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Chapter 28 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the big screen—Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness-is finally here, now playing at a theater near you. Whether or not you dug into the movie and/or the particularly chaotic scene right in the middle, we know you can’t help but ponder the MCU’s constant existential dilemma: And after? Fortunately, Multiverse of Madness does a lot of legwork to prepare for the future of its heroes.

Without further ado, here’s what (we think) Doctor Strange, America Chavez and Wanda Maximoff are waiting for. And yes, we will discuss that surprise character from the mid-credits scene.

America Chávez

Xochitl Gomez’s turn as pizza-loving, multiverse hero America Chavez might very well be the best part of Multiverse of Madness. At the end of the film, we see her training in the mystical arts, seemingly on the Sorcerer Supreme fast track alongside Ned Leeds. (Just kidding.) If Chavez doesn’t appear in a Young Avengers adaptation in the next five years, it will surely figure prominently in the battle against Kang the Conqueror by Jonathan Majors. This means that an appearance in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania could be on deck. Someone will have to hunt the guy and his different variants across the multiverse. It will surely be Chavez.

strange doctor

Considering that the man, in Multiverse of MadnessThe mid-credits scene is dragged in by Charlize Theron (!) as Clea (!!) in another universe, we know what he’s going to do. Clea, who in the comics is a terrific witch and lover of Strange, will likely make headlines. doctor strange 3 alongside the former Sorcerer Supreme. Hell, like Ant-Man and the Waspwe can even call it, Doctor Strange and Clea. We wouldn’t dispute that. If Clea and Strange really team up for the final entry into the strange doctor trilogy, it would probably be another Multiverse of Madness-esque, timeline trip with more cameos than any post-credits scene could handle. Of course, we might even see both heroes on a future Marvel team-up by then. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Secret Warsand the improvised avengers 5 are all at stake.

Wanda Maximoff

While some called Elizabeth Olsen Wanda Vision curtain call equally worthy of awards, we expressed how disappointed we were to see Wanda being brainwashed throughout Multiverse of Madness. We’ve followed Wanda’s journey of heartbreak, pain and love through eight episodes of excellent television, only to see her wreak havoc on her suburban home in a fit of demonic possession, scaring herself . And her children too, which seems a bit counter-intuitive.

For these sins and all her sins, Wanda is sorry. So sorry that she appears to commit suicide by collapsing the Scarlet Witch Shrine on her. Now, thanks to the multiverse, we know that no hero is ever truly gone. So we can bet on some sort of redemption arc for Wanda, whether it’s the one we grew up with in the MCU, the Wanda that Wanda terrorized in Multiverse of Madness, or another Wanda entirely. (Take a deep breath,) Maximoff-adjacent friends and foes like Agatha Harkness and White Vision are out there, and the Avengers will surely need the power of Scarlet Witch to outsmart Kang.
