Bryce Dallas Howard invited to lose weight for Jurassic World Dominion

Bryce Dallas Howard has revealed in a new interview with Metro that he was asked to lose weight before filming “Jurassic World Dominion,” which marked his third outing in the “Jurassic World” franchise. Howard said his weight was often a topic of discussion among studio executives and that conversation surfaced before filming “Dominion.” The actor credits director Colin Trevorrow with refusing such requests.

“What did being in this third film allow, how do I say that, how do I say that, how do I say that…[I’ve] I was asked not to use my natural body in film,” Howard said. “On the third movie, it was actually because there were so many women in the cast, it was something that Colin was very protective of me…because the conversation would come back, ‘We have to ask Bryce to lose weight.’ ”

“[Colin] was like, “There are a lot of different types of women on this planet and there are a lot of different types of women in our movie,” Howard continued. “I had to do so many stunts that wouldn’t have been possible if I had been on a diet.”

Howard concluded by saying, “I’m really thrilled [at] all the action I had to do, and I have to do it with my body, it was at its peak strength, and I hope that’s just another indication of what’s possible.

The “Jurassic World” franchise has been something of a constant battle for Howard. Not only was she asked to lose weight for the movies, but she also had to deal with lower pay than her co-star Chris Pratt. Reports surfaced in 2018 that she was making $8 million compared to Pratt’s $10 million for “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” but Howard told Insider last month she was paid “much less.”

“The reports were so interesting because I was paid so much less than the reports said, so much less,” Howard said. “When I started trading for ‘Jurassic,’ it was in 2014 and it was a different world, and I was at a huge disadvantage. And, unfortunately, you have to sign up for three movies, so your deals are set. .

Howard continued, “What I will say is that Chris and I discussed it, and whenever there was an opportunity to move the needle on things that hadn’t already been negotiated, like a game or a ride, he literally said to me, ‘You don’t even have to do anything. I will do all the negotiation. We’re gonna get paid the same and you don’t have to think about it, Bryce.

“Jurassic World Dominion” is now streaming on Peacock.
